Terms of Service
Last updated October 13, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Signal Harbor Technologies LLC, a New Mexico limited liability company ("we", "us"), which runs PigeonTrail at pigeontrail.com. By creating an account or using PigeonTrail you agree to them. If you use PigeonTrail for a business, you agree for that business and confirm you may do so.
1. What PigeonTrail does
PigeonTrail prints USPS Intelligent Mail barcodes for letters you mail with your own postage, checks delivery addresses against USPS address data, shows the scans USPS records for those barcodes, and, if you turn it on, emails your buyers about their letters on your behalf. We are not the United States Postal Service, we do not carry mail, and we are not affiliated with USPS.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 18 and give us an email address you control. You sign in with links sent to that address, so keep it secure.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- Tell us right away at support@pigeontrail.com if you think someone else has access to your account.
3. Your orders and your buyers
- You give us your buyers' names, mailing addresses and, if you choose, email addresses so we can print and track their letters. You confirm you have the right to share that information with us for that purpose.
- We use buyer information only to provide PigeonTrail to you: to check the address, print the letter, track it and send the emails you turned on. Our privacy policy explains this in full.
- Buyer emails are about a specific order and letter only. You may not use PigeonTrail to send marketing, or upload lists of people who did not order from you.
- If a buyer asks us to stop, we stop emailing that address for every seller, including you.
4. Mail and postage
- You buy and apply the postage, and you follow USPS rules for what you mail, including size, weight and postage amount. A barcode is not postage.
- Print labels and envelopes at full size. A shrunken barcode may not scan, and we cannot fix a letter that was printed wrong.
- Each barcode is for one letter. Do not copy, reuse or resell barcodes.
5. What tracking can and cannot tell you
Tracking depends on USPS scanning the barcode while it sorts your letter. Some letters are never scanned, and scans can arrive late or out of order. A "delivered" status is USPS's own estimate that the letter reached the carrier's route; it is not proof of delivery or a signature. PigeonTrail is not insurance, and we are not responsible for letters that are lost, late, damaged or misdelivered.
6. Plans, credits and payment
- Plans and prices are listed on our pricing section. Paid plans renew automatically each month or year until you cancel.
- The free plan includes 100 letters each calendar month (UTC). Letters made during a trial or on a paid plan do not count toward it.
- Your first letter starts a 30 day trial of Pro. No card is needed, nothing is charged when it ends, and the account then moves to the free plan.
- Pro and Shop include a number of letters each month. Letters past that are billed after the month ends, at the rate on the pricing section, to the card on your plan, and only for letters USPS scanned. We do not bill a month's overage when it comes to less than $1.
- Credits are prepaid letters at 10 cents each and do not expire while your account is open. On the free plan, a month that goes past 100 letters runs on credits for every letter of that month, including the first 100. Without Pro, a mailing record for a letter costs 20 credits.
- The founding price ($9.99 a month for Pro) is for our first 500 sellers to take Pro monthly. It lasts while that subscription stays active and ends if you cancel or switch plans.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
- You can cancel a paid plan at any time from your account. It stays active until the end of the period you paid for and then moves to the free plan.
- We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice by email. A change applies from your next renewal.
- Prices do not include taxes; we add taxes where the law requires.
7. Refunds
- If you paid for a letter with a credit and USPS never scans it, the credit comes back to your account automatically 21 days after you printed it. Letters over a plan's allowance that USPS never scans are never billed.
- Credits are not exchanged for cash, except where the law requires it.
- Plan fees already paid are not refunded for unused letters or a partial month or year, except where the law requires it.
- If we charged you in error, write to support@pigeontrail.com and we will correct it.
8. Acceptable use
Do not use PigeonTrail to break the law or USPS rules, to mail anything illegal or dangerous, to send email people did not ask for, to commit fraud, to get around our limits, to probe or overload our systems, or to copy the service. We may suspend or close an account that does.
9. Ending your account
You can stop using PigeonTrail at any time and ask us to close your account. We may close or suspend an account that breaks these terms, that has not paid, or when the law requires it. When an account closes we delete its data as described in our privacy policy, except what we must keep for tax, accounting or legal reasons.
10. Disclaimers
PigeonTrail is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and merchantability. We do not promise the service will be uninterrupted or error free, or that USPS will scan any letter.
11. Limits of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, sales or goodwill, including from lost or late mail or buyer claims. Our total liability for any claim about PigeonTrail is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $50 if that is more.
12. Your responsibility to us
If a buyer or anyone else makes a claim against us because of what you mailed, the information you gave us, or your breaking these terms, you will cover our reasonable costs of that claim.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. For a change that matters, we will email account owners at least 30 days before it takes effect. Using PigeonTrail after that date means you accept the new terms.
14. General
New Mexico law governs these terms, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute will be decided in the state or federal courts in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, and you and we agree to those courts. If part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. These terms and our privacy policy are the whole agreement between you and us about PigeonTrail.
